Aspirations

everyone, or rather, most of us have aspirations. i have my own aspirations, and many know what they are. there was a reason why i kept one of it a secret, only letting a few close friends know, that is to avoid being mocked at or letting others doubt it. now, it has been let out, and many are mocking me, doubting me.

well, there's really nothing i can do about it but ignore. people can say all they want, because in the end, i'm the one who produces the results to shut them up. i will continue to stick to what i want to do, as long as God wants it, and there's nothing that people can say to discourage me.

also, to those who are in my shoes, do the same, never let what people say put you down and stop you from what you want to do, as long as it's right. strive even harder and prove them wrong.

My mind

i have no idea what's wrong with me these days. i've been very easily irritated and my anger's very easily triggered. i believe i'm bothered by somethings, but just unsure what it is.

Beautiful

this picture may just be a very simple one to some. but as i was running through the whole Singapore River Regatta 2008 photo album in my harddisk and saw this picture, i had a very weird feeling, a very unexplainable one. feeling of friendship or nostalgia? i don't really know. like i said, it's unexplainable.

Selamat Hari Raya Puasa

here's wishing all Muslim friends a Selamat Hari Raya Puasa, though it's ending already.

First clubbing experience

last night, 19/09/2009, I HAD MY VIRGIN CLUBBING EXPERIENCE. went to St James with my DB mates. some people couldn't enter because they didn't bring their IC. what a waste. but it's ok, we'll have another outing soon.

anyways, i got a little drunk after, what was it, 6,7,8 drinks? i don't remember. went dancing around, spout a few nonsense, don't know if i did anything stupid though.went in and out like a few times, but continued to have fun when we were in there.

overall, it was not a bad experience. and like my Facebook status mentioned, the worst part is having this ringing sound in my ears and having everything i hear, muffled. nonetheless, looking forward to the next time clubbing, but i swear never to make it a habit, and never to get drunk in the club.

Trip to Geylang

*pictures at the bottom of the post*

i just came back from the Melayu part of Geylang, went with Mai. Aiman couldn't make it because he has to help his grandma with some Hari Raya stuff, i assume.

parked my car over at City Plaza, then we started walking around from there. it was alright in the beginning, then it started to get real hot and humid. and there was also the haze, which was there even before we got there. besides the "extreme" conditions, it was still an eye opener for me; i've never been out to that area of Geylang, and now i just did around the Hari Raya period. it looked a lot like an extremely HUGE Pasar Malam (night market), with loads of Melayu stuff.

a very random moment: we saw this grave. according to Mai, it's real. ok, she THINKS it is.

carrying on, we went over to get food and decided to leave the place. just happened, Farah and her friend was at the bus-stop. so, decided to give them a lift back. sent them home, sent Mai home, and i just got home around half an hour ago. time to eat my sexy, fattening food. goodbye people!

oh yes, the Civic hit its first 9000km already! 1000 more to go for the second servicing!

9000km!

random grave. *eerie*

i think there were supposed to be 4 balls, but i got 3 instead. CONNED! =[

Life

everyone has a plan for their lives, well, almost everyone. but at times, life just doesn't go as planned.

i want to get myself into the sporting industry, i want to get married and have at the most two kids, one of which will be named Tyrus. i've got many other plans, which i'm not sure whether or not they will be feasible. life makes a fool out of people.

well, what i can do now is to work towards these plans/ goals. i haven't been really successful, but at least i roughly know what i want to do.

so, what are YOUR plans in life?

Guess who's back?

ladies and gentlemen, the owner of this blog has returned. after a long time of being MIA, i've decided to update this cobweb infested blog. oh yes, and also Mai asked me to.

here are some recent updates on my life:
- went to Liverpool vs Singapore match at the National Stadium, 26th June 2009
- talked to Lim Tong Hai, one of the best soccer players in Singapore and current coach of Geylang United. got useful tips from him about coaching
- found a new coaching motivation, Don Meyer
- new addiction to Neopets and Fish-a-fish on Facebook
- completion of FYP Report
- went to Festival of Praise at Indoor Stadium, 2nd August 2009
- disappointment and heartbroken about something
- envious of recent spurt in relationships

that's pretty much all i can remember. i promise to post more often next time!

Blink detection

was surfing through Canon's Digital Cameras and bumped on the PowerShot D10.

this is one of the cool things they have on the camera; Blink detection. now, i was wondering, how feasible is this new technology for Asians (Chinese)? i mean, most of us have tapered eyes. look at Nicholas Loo! the camera will be detecting blinks everytime he's in the picture!

June

2nd time bringing the trophy back.

many months of training, 4 competitions, 4 medals for myself, all in the month of June.

in the last 2 weekends, the whole team managed to grab a whole bunch of medals. for myself, i got 1 silver from SIWF, 1 gold from POL-ITE 2009, 1 silver for the Tertiary Mixed team and 1 bronze for the National Championship Men's, both from SDBF.

SIWF was my first and last with RP. the silver medal was in fact a gold and we know damn well why.

POL-ITE 2009 was my final one, and i'm glad i could defend the title with my team. it was RPDB's third consecutive win in the POL-ITE games since snatching it from TP. i paddled in 2 of the 3 POL-ITE races.

for SDBF, we swept the POL-ITE category races in Men's, Women's and Mixed last year. unfortunately, SDBA took that category off this year; in fact, 2008 was the only year the POL-ITE category was featured. but in 2009, RPDB made history. the bronze medal from the National Championship Men's was the first, since we started in 2005. that was the best bronze medal i've ever gotten in my life. in that event itself, it was also one of the best ever. the Tertiary Mixed silver medal was one of my very few Mixed team medals, and i'm glad to have paddled.

all the 3 competitions mentioned above are all my last with RPDB. the feeling in those competitions were great; almost replicable to SRR 2008. thanks to everyone who made it possible; my coach, my teammates, GOD.

King of Pop

ladies and gentlemen, the King of Pop has left us. yes, it's Michael Jackson, and no, it's not a prank.

the 50-year-old died after suffering from cardiac arrest. CPR was performed, but it wasn't enough to keep him alive. more news here.

on a personal note, if i'm not wrong, i was introduced to MJ by my brother. he has a few albums of MJ at home. i've watched MJ's MTV of a few songs, and i really liked them. MJ has gone through controversies; child molestation, plastic surgery and even lifting his child outside the window. but despite what he did, i still love him for his music. he revolutionised what music is today. he, indeed, changed the world. the only thing he did wrong was to leave us this early, when nobody was ready for it.

thank you MJ, thanks for the great songs, the great music you've presented over the years, since your Jackson 5 days. thanks for everything.

Singapore International Water Festival

we, RPDB, went for our most recent competition just yesterday at Marina Barrage. it was the Singapore International Water Festival, jointly organised by Singapore Polytechnic and PUB, and we competed in the Inter-POL-ITE Dragon Boat race.

due to delays in earlier races, we were rushed at the starting point to align our boats. the officials were impatient, they didn't want to delay further and they just started the race without bothering whether the boats were aligned or not. our boat, particularly, started off veering towards lane 6; we were in lane 5. that probably took away 2-3seconds, or more, from our race.

despite that, our coxwain was able to steer us back into our lane quickly enough and we won the set/ heat, beating SP by only 1sec, clocking 2:28min.

NP won by a clear margin amongst the other teams in their set/ heat, clocking a 2:27min to win the Inter-POL-ITE Men's category. we got 2nd and SP got 3rd.

our girls did really well, capturing Gold for the Inter-POL-ITE Women's category.

oh yes, i'm proud of my juniors. despite their resut, i want to applaud them for their efforts. they seemed calm and compose throughout most of their race. a good job to you guys and please remember what i said to you. continue working hard!

as a preview to the POL-ITE games, coming up on Friday (26/06/2009), we now know where we stand. i'm looking forward to compete side by side with the other Polytechnic and ITE teams, and vie for the Championship. pressure's on us, but we'll not succumb to it.

Life

his name is Andy Toh Jiahe. born 24th June 1985, left the world on the 28th day of August, the same year he was born.

yes, he is related to me, he is my 2nd brother.

the boy died just slightly over 2months after he entered the world, something no parents want to see their kid go through. it's exactly like the Chinese saying, when directly translated, "white hair sends the black hair away".

but then i think back, if Andy boy, as my mum calls him, didn't pass away, would i even be here? would my parents have even wanted a third child in the family?

Andy boy wasn't able to enjoy his 2months on earth, i assume. being a 2month old baby, what was there for him to do? i'm already 20 years old, and i asked myself this question, am i enjoying my life?

what's "enjoyment"? what's "living your life to the fullest"? is it to live a healthy lifestyle, eating only healthy food to help us live longer, to be fit for most of our lives? or is it to do whatever you like, eat whatever you like, even if it leads to a shorter lifespan? but then again, can there be a combination of the two?

well, the main point of the whole post is that since we've got the opportunity to live, why not live it to the fullest, live it the way you want, but of course being morally right. Andy boy didn't, but i now do.

thanks Andy boy.

Kobe Bryant

i hate to say this, but this man, #24 of the LA Lakers, is one of the best players the NBA has ever had. he shoots from anywhere, even with a hand, or a thousand hands in his face. he doesn't even need to look at the basket to shoot, Kobe's got the shooting feel/ touch everywhere.

i'm no Lakers fan, no Kobe fan, but i have to say, Bryant is looking like the legendary #23 of Chicago Bulls.

Glitz 2009, AGAIN

i never wanted bad relationships between the Floorball team and RPDB.

i never had bad intentions in my first post on Glitz 2009.

i accept your apology Ahmad, whom i assume is the captain of Floorball. i agree that there was a miscommunication between your other teammates and my post. i respect that you've stepped up to clear the air. i hope this doesn't affect our teams too much, and preferably, it will be ignored ASAP. i also apologise for unintentionally starting this flame.

Wan, i didn't want this to happen, and it's not going to affect our friendship, at least i'm not going to let it.

why would i want to get myself into trouble with another IG? it's my final year and i got better things to worry about. if you, AHMAD KAMIL, wants to find trouble, then i think you knocked on the wrong door. because me, and my team, are going to ignore such things and focus on our own team, our upcoming competitions. and if there's anything wrong with my post, i once again say, i am willing to talk about this face to face, in gentlemanly style. don't smear my reputation, don't smear my team's reputation and lastly, don't smear YOUR team's reputation. if you wish to continue this war of words, you go on yourself alright? i'm not going to entertain this anymore on my blog. AHMAD AFZAL has stepped up to apologise for your team, and i'm done with this crap.

Stomp Fail!

i was looking through the stomp website, and bumped upon this post.

note: it's a Mitsubishi, not a Subaru.

To the shallowest of champions

well, that AHMAD KAMIL fella said he and some of his floorball mates think i can't take the loss of the Team of the Year.

say what you guys want alright? i stay firm, and still say my conscience is clear, i am NOT a sore loser. i did not insult the floorball team, i did not say anything to criticise the team.

lastly, please just get some English lessons, and work on your comprehension skills. after that, re-read my Glitz 2009 post again, and tell me which part of it shows my lack of sportsmanship.

oh yes, i'll ignore such accusations, because i know myself better than you shallow people. you dare comment on how champions should act? take a look at yourselves. i'm not afraid to say this.

p.s. i'm only targetting this to those who shallowly think i am a sore loser, not the whole floorball team.

Respond to Glitz 2009 comment

AHMAD, you see, i'm not being a sore loser. i did mention in the earlier post, i applaud your team's winning. i even physically went to the edge of the stage to congratulate the Floorballers i know. i continued to do so when you guys came out. and as i said, you guys had an excellent season.

now, don't get me wrong if i said i don't know if you guys were well deserved winners. i can't judge whether you guys are because i don't know how it's going within your team. as mentioned, you guys did well last season, and i really respect the fact that your team clinched gold in both POL-ITE and IVP.

i stay on my stand, i am NOT sore about not winning Team of the Year. if we deserved it, we would have got it. since we didn't, then we got nothing. there are winners, then there are losers. in this case, we're the latter. and as you said, we'll continue to fight another day, to get back the title, the award, the recognition.

anyway, my conscience is clear, and will not bother to find trouble from you, or anyone else that thinks the same as you. i wouldn't mind if you're willing to clear the air with me personally. i'm a gentleman and will pull no punches, won't even think about it.

Driving

hello everyone.

on this faithful day, 03/06/2009, the probation (or triangle) plates in my car have been removed! it's been a year since i got my license, and i am very, VERY happy to be driving without those "triangles".

let me tell you what those things do to you as a driver.
- people bully you. they think you're a newbie, and take advantage of you.
- people treat you as you're non-existent.
- you have only 13 pathetic points.
alright, basically people don't respect you on the roads, they cut you off your lanes, tailgate you and whatever. but i haven't backed off such situations. i usually fight back, but keep myself and the car as safe as possible.

but anyway, those of you that have been through it, you know how it feels. those who haven't, good luck to you guys, and stay strong against those road bullies!

Alcohol

after last night's experience, i hereby vow to abstain from all forms of alcoholic drinks. which means no beer or liquor, but alcoholic chocolates are still allowed.

seriously, being drunk makes one look ugly and all. and i was probably ranting about you last night.

Glitz 2009

right, so we didn't clinch the Team of the Year award for the 3rd consecutive year, but we were nominees for the past 3 years. when the results were announced, i thought i was dreaming, and definitely hoped it was a dream. but the Floorball male team took it from us. say all you want whether the results were biased or not, the winners are the team whose adviser is the Deputy Head of OSG and there is nothing we can do, but to fight for it again, starting from now.

i won't say that the Floorball team are well deserved winners, because i don't know about their attendance and discipline matters, though they have made an excellent season winning gold in the IVP and POL-ITE games. but you know, i don't think RPDB deserve the title, if we were to look into discipline and attendance.

yes we've made a heck load of history throughout our previous season. we made history in SRR 2008, winning 4 golds. we made history by winning POL-ITE 2 years in a row. we clinched gold for all the POL-ITE category events at SDBF 2008. but apparently, in OSG's eyes, it's not enough for us to win the Team of the Year.

really looked forward to winning the Team of the Year for the 3rd time to complete a 3-peat, but it didn't happen. i applaud RP's Floorball team for clinching the award, and trust me, we'll be back to take it back next year. may the best team win.

on a brighter note, i got a Certificate of Merit, only 2 Dragon Boaters got it this year, Rone and myself. Christo got Meritorious Silver along with Shawn and Hakin. Alvin got the Sports Development Grant, which Christo has too - that's 2 for the vice-capt. Hakin was also awarded Female Captain of the year.

Yahoo!

you guys know when you enter YAHOO.com, there will be this big YAHOO! at the top of the page.

well, for Yahoo!'s Singapore webpage, there's this cool little animation of 2 little dragon boats racing for a dumpling. i suppose it's for the Dragon Boat Festival, or Dumpling Festival or how you want to call it.

i think the animation is real cool. check it out for yourself here.

here's a picture collage of the animation!

You

hope you're doing fine, which i think you are after reading your blog.

hope your MYE hasn't been too tough for you.

hope this week is a heck lot better than the last.

anyway, i survived a day not texting you. my days aren't getting better though. but, don't worry, i'll survive. i've fallen down this pit many times, i never learn. rejection has been a major part of my life in recent years.

take care, and all the best for your MYE once again.

Crap! Literally

most of those white spots you see are bird crap, not orbs.

check out the size of that sh*t!

yes my dear handful of readers out there, these are bird crap, more than a handful of them. and that's my (or my family's) car.

i was walking from Lower Seletar Reservoir, after training, to the carpark. then i saw white spots on my car from a distance. and then came the moment of truth.

under the lamp, those crap looked wet, and as fresh as you can imagine. these were the biggest sizes of bird crap ever, EVER, landed on my car. i have never seen that big and that many bird crap ever. many maybe yes, but big and many, NEVER. you know what's worst seeing? the sight of them flowing down the car's rear screen as i was driving and looking in my rear-view mirror. oh yes, i was driving with embarrassment, hoping that other drivers won't think that i don't wash my car often.

i did another hour and ten of physical activity, washing the car, and now my car is clean of crap. those birds made me do that with a very hungry and empty stomach, and a very thirsty mouth.

anyway, after this incident, i now declare that i, terence, DISLIKE BIRDS. and also think all of them should be toilet trained. if anyone from the government or SPCA is reading this, please, fine them for poo-ing and pee-ing everywhere, and whenever they want.

p.s. i know we humans invaded their territory first, but they still should be toilet trained.

Oops!

this was at lot #12 @ RP's multi-storey carpark.

Mai, Aiman and i were just walking into the carpark and about to press for the lift. then i spotted a lamp which was partly fallen.

i did try to call for Estate and tell them about the matter, but it was after office hours, so they weren't available. the only available number was for life-threatening matters, which i don't think this falls under.

Fear came true

it's been a week, 7 days. we started talking a week ago, we're beginning to stop a week later, around the same time we started.

people around and close to me know the excitement and happiness i had chatting with you. hopes, they were high. but as they say, the higher your hopes are, the harder you'll fall.

that, was my main worry. well, need not worry no more, because it has indeed happened.

a matter of wrong timing? maybe, maybe not.

i wish you the best. i hope that, animal, didn't change your perspective of guys. good luck for your MYE. thanks for the past week.

Public transport

for the year 2009, the only time i remember myself taking the train was yesterday, Sunday 24th May. i think i did take some public bus or something in within the past 5months. if that didn't happen, then i can officially say that 24th May was the first time i took public transport, in this year of course.

back to taking public transport, i discovered, or rediscovered, the inconvenience of it. you don't have your own personal space, you don't get to sing out loud, you've got to squeeze with people in those narrow MRT seats and the worst part of all, waiting for the bus/ train to arrive. in such a weather, it's just natural for me to perspire and produce a whole gallon of sweat that the astronauts can turn into drinking water and survive with it for a month or so.

when driving, all the walking has been reduced to just from home to carpark, carpark to destination, and the cycle repeats. all the waiting would be in the comfort of your car, with air-conditioning, music and your own personal space.

however, i kind of like taking public transport. i get to see all sorts of people on the trains. weird, unfriendly, selfish, inconsiderate and "sleepers". just yesterday, my aunt was complaining about how those who are pregnant or old or whatever should stand infront of the priority seats if they can't find a place to sit, and not stand in the center of the car/ cabin/ carriage. she said that she will NOT give up a sit to a pregnant lady, which she really did not. instead, she expects those who occupy the priority seats, and do not need them, should give their seats up. think about it, if everyone's like my aunt, will the needy people, talking about those who need the seats, get one?

see, the problem with us Singaporeans is that we're not considerate enough. the only reason why priority seats are there is because of people like that. but it also created another, even worst, category of Singaporeans, the people who occupy priority seats, and pretend the people in need of the seats are non-existent. i despise these people, and i definitely oppose to this behaviour.

i'm not your perfect Singaporean. i don't always give up my seats to people in need. but i always try to do so. if i don't, i'm probably too tired or something. but i will never take up a priority seat, unless i can confirm that the train will be empty through my ride.

Singaporeans are labelled as "KIASU" and "KIASEE" people, meaning afraid to lose and afraid to die respectively. but i believe that if this behaviour carries on, then we should add one more to our "great" reputation, INCONSIDERATE.

Wake up

i'm beginning to think too much again.

staying optimistic is proving to be a challenge because i know the more positive i stay, the more disappointed i may be in future.

Hokkien Umbrella

Daihatsu Terios

following up the video on the post below, i want to say, i should have gotten the Daihatsu Terios instead of the Honda Civic.

i believe i made a mistake by not looking at the Terios when my brother suggested to change to a Toyota Rush, which was a joint production by Daihatsu and Toyota, before we switched to the Civic. the Rush is underpowered, well at least it's what i've seen from the reviews, that's why i didn't want it. but i didn't do any research on the Daihatsu.

though less powerful than the Civic, i believe the Terios would have been a ride that's more fun. higher ride height, 4WD, budget/ mini-SUV, what more could i ask for?

i have regrets now, but not much though. i still like the Civic, but as mentioned, i would have had more fun with the Daihatsu.

i hope there will be a better, but still affordable Terios in the coming years, because i will definitely switch to one if my dad decides to change the current Civic. which would probably be after the next 5 years.

Great video

car and Top gear enthusiast, please watch this video. especially for those who drive a Daihatsu Terios 4WD and have never gone off road.

P.S. it made me laugh the sh*t out of my life. and my mum thought i was crazy.

Better already

i'm feeling a lot better than how i felt at FAS. decided to take things one step at a time.

like Siti said, patience is virtue.

Thanks, my friends

i would like to thank my friends (you know who you are) for the amount of concern shown. when i'm down, i have these people to support me.

i want to thank especially my BFF, Lynnette. i want to thank you for not just comforting me, but tried to wake me up by being a little harsh even when i was down.

you guys never fail to be there for me. thanks to all of you.

*POP*, goes my bubbles

after a day of excitement, i finally fell to what i told Lynnette. the amount of hopes put into "it" will eventually lead to great disappointment.

it came true, and now i feel like shit. i almost cried at TRCC, which is why i told Lynn not to talk to me about anything, which is why i left TRCC before anyone else did.

contemplating on me and relationships, i realised that i'm pretty much a failure of many sorts. i have never fulfilled what i ask for in my previous 5 relationships. i've failed badly, and as much as i want to recover, i once again fail to do so.

it's not a matter of time, it's a matter of fate, something that lies in God's hands. i can never control this, and i know it damn well. i may very well have to wait 10 years for someone to accept me, to let me try to win her heart, but do i really have that much time? i'm not going to die, but it would be too damn long.

i want to get into a relationship because i want to be loved, i want to love, more of the former though. it's a tough task for me to fulfill, it's a really high mountain for me to climb.

P.S. i don't blame you, i don't blame anyone but myself. i probably came in at the wrong time, and you're definitely not ready. it's just natural for me to be emotional over these things. don't worry, if you're reading this.

we kissed in the last dream, and we quarreled in the recent one.

this sucks. i'm so sick of it.

What a driving experience

i was sending Stella home and we were on the BKE driving on lane 1. then this woman driving a green Kia Picanto decides to cut into my lane without signaling from the second lane. of course, driving at a little over 90km/h, any driver's instinct would be to either horn or flash the headlights at that green peanut.

trying to be nice, i decided to flash at that green thing, and obediently, that puny little thing went back to its lane. as i was driving past the Picanto, i looked into the car, and this woman decides to point "THE FINGER" at me.

wrong move. i looked at my rear view mirror and there was no cars anywhere near me, so i braked. with my speed reduced by 20km/h, down to 70, i allowed the car infront of her to move pass me, and i went into the second lane. played with that woman for a little while before she eventually drove below 60 on lane 2. but wait! that wasn't the end.

i carefully switched to lane 4, and drove slowly waiting for her to drive beside me on the slip road towards KJE. once again, a reminder, there wasn't any vehicles behind me on lane 4 at that point. anyway, she came by, and we both stared at each other.

to my surprise, she's a Muslim. look, i have nothing against them, but i just think, that woman's a disgrace to the Muslim community. seriously, you've got something hanging in your car that shows you're one, and you dare point the finger at me? please please, think of your image. tsk.

point to self, next time someone shows something vulgar at me, remember the number plate. seriously, i would love to see someone get into trouble because of this. laughs out loud.

anyway, that wasn't the end. apart from that bugger that made me wait at the red light near Stella's place, there was this other driver who decided to tailgate me on the slip road towards Choa Chu Kang. going upslope, and with a BUS infront of me, of course, i can't go fast. but no, that butthead wants to speed. then i decided to brake, gently of course, to lose him.

that noob had his brakes screeching away, and i shrugged him off a little. he sped back to tailgate me once again, towards the red light. i shifted to the 2nd of 3 lanes, from the first, and allowed him to stop beside me. that guy, in his thirties i think, stared at me like i ripped his car's door away. and what did i do?

i showed him a smug face, and never looked back at that loser.

Mas Selamat Caught

ladies and gentlemen, this man, Mas Selamat Kastari, has been caught a month ago in Malaysia.

the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) leader of Singapore was detained at Whitley Road Detention Centre, which he escaped from last year. the escape prompted the largest manhunt in Singapore's history.

In a statement, Singapore's Home Affairs Ministry said: "Mas Selamat has been arrested by the Malaysian Special Branch (MSB) in a joint operation between the MSB and the Internal Security Department (ISD)."

Why am i "emo-ing"

the only reason, i can think of, why i'm "emo-ing" is because i treat your words very seriously.
("you" is not the same person from the "superman tee" post)

sorry.

Smart advertising

i think this is advertisement done is rather smart.

the words "Can your 3 run on all-fours?" is actually making fun of the new Mazda 3. of course, Subaru would deny such claims.

previously, there was another such advertisement, also by Subaru, mocking the VW Golf. on the weekend the new Golf was launched, the words, similarly placed, said "Forget Golf this weekend, come see our WRX", or something like that.

FA Cup Semi-finals: Everton vs Manchester United

in case you guys didn't know, Manchester United was knocked out of the FA Cup by Everton on Monday morning.

Sir Alex Ferguson took a gamble by putting most of his youngsters into the starting 11 for the Semi-finals clash. players like Welback, Gibson, twins Rafael and Fabio, and overnight superstar "Kiko" Macheda started for Manchester United. David Moyes, however, took no chances for his Everton side, and played his usual line-up.

Sir Alex's gamble was a price to pay as they were beaten 2-4 on penalties by Everton, with Tim Howard saving 2 shots from his former team.

after 120minutes of official play time and extra time, a goal-less draw took the clubs into penalties. Sir Alex chose experience, than position, as his penalty kickers starrs Berbatov, Ferdinand, Vidic and Anderson as the first 4. that decision, understandable because the veterans would be more calm and focused in situations like these rather than the youngsters, was also one of the deciding factors for the winners. Berbatov and Ferdinand both had their shot saved by former team mate, Howard.

after the match, Berbatov was heavily criticised by spectators around the world for his "tamed" kick. many said the shot was too "gentle", and expected a striker of that standards to be much better. his boss has however backed him up. reports here.

personal:
i feel that Sir Alex's move to put his youngsters in such an important match was controversial but important move. by doing so, they have gained much experience by playing a Premier League club of high standards. this is a boost for the club, as they may need to look for players to replace older players such as Scholes, Giggs and Neville. it's a short term, though "expensive" sacrifice but a long term investment.

i don't agree, though, to the selection of penalty kickers. Sir Alex should have continued using his youngsters for the penalties. i felt that the strikers and midfielders should have been the first 5, despite being inexperienced.

overall, the starting 11 of United proved to be able to withstand Everton's first team, which is a good sight for the the future of the current World Champions.

Lucky people

i remember having this on my blog before, but just couldn't find it.

thanks Kia, for the reminder that this video even exist.

RPDB trip to Genting

alright, 20 of RPDB paddlers, of which 3 have graduated, went to Genting the week after MR500 - TO HAVE FUN!

we had a 22 or 23-seater bus to Genting, from Singapore, and a 21-seater back. the 21-seater bus, that is the SEX. it was just SPACIOUS! and we had our own mini screen TV. yes, each and every one of us.

anyway, it was great fun there. activities we did include: theme parks, SAFARI "DISCO", temple, arcade, 1RM per song Kbox, and many many more.

me, Sufi, Christo, Adrian and Qiplek went on the Space Shot like 4 times. it was GREAT!
*confession - the pimple on my ass burst after my first ride. (THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SAY)

Sufi, WenHui and WenJie got tricked into the Crazy Space Lab. it was a total waste of time, in which over 10 of us rushed for, from one end to the other of the theme park. the 3 of them came late, and we told them it was the greatest ride. three of them went in, six middle fingers came out. was it as good as we mentioned? you be the judge.

we made a whole lot of noise in many of the rides the the theme parks. we had the whole Euro Xpress to ourselves, and totally rocked First World Hotel!

alright, enough said. check out the pictures at Facebook! there's videos too!

MR500 2009

MR500 was a couple of weeks back - 28 & 29 of March.

these are the achievements by RPDB:
  • Tertiary (Men) - Silver
  • Open (Mixed) - Plate Final, Gold
  • Tertiary (Women) - Gold
that's another 2 medals for me.

*pictures in Facebook*

My latest asset/ entertainment

i got my 80GB PS3(finally) a few weeks back. Aiman and Mai were there with me.

we went to Kallang Leisure Park, initially just to park my car. but i remembered that there was a game shop there. so checked out the price of the PS3. it had the cheapest price, well at least the cheapest i've seen, SGD590. but i didn't get it immediately. we went to Funan to check for other prices.

looked around and realised that Funan shops were selling it at quite high prices, compared to the one at Kallang Leisure Park. but we did find a shop that sold games at a lower price. so i got 3 games there - NBA2K9, Winning Eleven 2009, GTA IV.

we then went back to Kallang to get my PS3, then set off to my place to play it!

grapics are GREAT, and i'm having one heck of a time with the games.

P.S. get a PS3 instead of XBOX 360. =p

the similarities.

this is the reason why we call or earth, MOTHER earth.

Bowling

few of us dragon boaters went to Marina Square to play bowling earlier today. i got a 67 on my first game, which had me 4th of the 7 people who played. and in the second game, i came up tops, with 120pts. not the best of my games, but at least i redeemed myself after the first game.

anyway, Rone and Christo had to do 50push-ups each because they were last in each games.

bowling's fun, especially when you haven't played it for years! i'm definitely going to play again before school reopens.

Rone & Christo; push-ups @ Marina Square SuperBowl.

Coke + Mentos trap

friends out there, beware. because i vow to do this on someone, someday.

anyway, i'm just amazed at how much she screamed as the Coke spurts, and after it's left at the basin for the matter. oh yes, and also, how she screams, "YOU SON OF A B*TCH!" at her own son.

Monk in Rush

i saw a monk/ nun (well, she was bald in a monk's suit) getting into a Blue Toyota Rush and eventually driving off with her other monk/ nuns.

female monk/ nun; the one on the right of course. more on monks HERE.

Toyota Rush. more on the car HERE.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i always thought monks/ nuns are not suppose to have the cash to enjoy such luxuries. i've seen monks/ nuns who live in a bungalow/ semi-d around the Toh Yi Drive area.
